Severely impacted by Covid-19, Asif seeks relief for traders

IMG_4432NEW DELHI, 04 August, 2020 - The All India Minority Front (AIMF) urged the government to provide special relief to traders in the country, saying this sector is the backbone of the economy and their collapse would cause massive unemployment.

Incomes have reduced to zero due to the lockdown and the revenue of the entire sector has come to a grinding halt. Despite this, the shop owners and other traders are constantly burdened with their workers’ salary, loan instalments, rent, commercial tax and fixed electricity bill, the AIMF chief SM Asif said.

He said many traders association has sent a memorandum to him, as per which many of the shops are on the verge of closure and up to 40 percent of shops will shut down if they do not get relief from trade license fee soon.
Their main demands include abolition of all license fees (specially Municipal Corporations) in any form for the financial year 2020-21, and deferment of GST payments for FY21 by one year, he said.

Therefore, it is important to consider the demands of these traders while there is still some time for recovery and special economic relief should be given to them, the AIMF leader said in a statement.
